As you get older, you realize every relationship takes effort, whether it be a husband and wife, parent and child, or employee and employer relationship. However, many people fail to recognize their personal relationship with money, because even though money is not a living object, money plays a vital part in everyone’s life. The key is what role does the mighty dollar play in your life?
Perhaps you view money as an worker you have hired to perform a service that you require to be done. Maybe you view money as a partner who works with you to get a task done, or better yet as a servant to do your bidding. One thing is for certain you must be clear, take charge, and decide who is the boss!
You relationship with money is no different that any other relationship you have. You must be clear about what you expect from your partnership and what you are willing to do to make it work to your benefit. The best relationship you could have with money is to treat it as a tool and a servant. However, if you start treating money as the master of your decisions, financial problems are usually not too far away.
We all heard the saying a million times before “Money is the root of all evil”, but the reality is the greed of money is the root of all evil. However, the greed only presents itself when you treat money as the king of your actions. Ultimately, we should treat money as a tool and as use it to grow, learn, and sometimes to compromise(sacrifice) our financial well being.
When we truly use money as a tool, and to be honest there will times when we slip and let money control and get the best of us. But overall, we should use moolah as a tool to attain material goods, as well as a means to achieve fulfillment and pleasure for yourself and others.
When we let money work for us, it puts us in complete charge of pursuing many of our life goals. Also, writing out your financial goals and expectations will give you the power to use the money you have attained, and direct it anywhere you see fit.
So the choice is yours how you view money, because only you and you alone can determine what role moolah plays in your life. As for me, I will continue to use money as tool, but I know at times it will get the best of me. However, as long as I continue to develop and acknowledge my personal relationship with money, I think I’m headed in the right direction.
So What’s Your Personal Relationship with Money?
