Dating Tips: Smart Ways To Budget for Dating and Entertaining

When I was single(a long time ago…) and living the bachelor life I remember going home one weekend and discussing my budget with my Dad.  I was always good at  budgeting my money, but many times I would end up spending all my free money(money I had left over after all my expenses were paid) before I would receive my next paycheck . After telling my Dad this he said I have the answer to fix your problems… I said what is it? He said very politely lose the girlfriends and stop going on so many dates.

With that being said I started budgeting my spending money, and came up with ways to still hang out, date, and entertain as frequent as I was and without using up all my spending money. Oh yeah, I did have to drop some girlfriends…lol

Smart Ways To Budget for Dating and Entertaining

  • Decide how much you are going to spend for dating and entertaining and place that money in an envelope.
  • Try to always use cash because you can lose track very quickly putting your dating and entertaining spending on debit or credit cards.
  • If your dating someone exclusively put some extra money aside for birthdays, holidays, and special occasions.
  • Look in your local newspapers or circulars to find free events that are occurring in your city or town.  The local museum is always a good choice especially if you live in big cities like New York or Washington DC.
  • If you are a romanticist, try taking your date on a picnic lunch with a few extras in the box. A picnic lunch is always a win-win because it can be easily made into a truly romantic and elegant event, and the cost is minimal.
  • Cook up a meal at home and spend the evening watching a movie on DVD, playing board games, or any entertainment around the house that will cause the two of you to interact with each other on a more personal basis than a movie theater.
